What Steroids Cause Less Side Effects in Women?

All male hormones and anabolic steroids will cause virilization in women.

This includes those anabolic steroids that are considered weaker or are taken in low doses.

Does this mean that if you use Winstrol or one of the other anabolic steroids that are “nicer” to women that in the morning you will turn into a man? No.

In this article, we look at what this process is and why virilization happens – when and if it does.

Virilization and anabolic steroids

Virilization is the decrease of the feminine and the increasing of the masculine characteristics in women.

It is a process that occurs when women use anabolic steroids that are derivatives of testosterone.

In some women, steroid virilization is a natural process, especially when the woman has a hormone imbalance.

Characteristics of Virilization

The changes that occur can be random – different from one woman to the next and it is important to understand that hormones are powerful and because we are each unique, they affect us all differently.

That is also why it is important to realize that you will likely not have the same experience as your friend even though you use the same brand, steroid, and dose.

Hair Growth – One common side effect of anabolic steroid use in women is hair growth in places where it was not noticeable – fine – or where it did not occur.

For many women, this means facial hair, such as a mustache or beard and hair growth on the breasts. It can also mean that fine hair becomes thicker, darker, and coarser.

On a more dramatic note, anabolic steroid use can cause male pattern baldness and hair loss in women.

Vocal Changes – The timer of the female voice my drop-in pitch and become lower in much the same way as a preteen boy’s voice begins to crack and squeak before it deepens.

Irregular Menstruation – At higher doses, anabolic steroids wage war with female sex hormones and that process can cause missed periods, increased periods, and exaggerated and exacerbated mood swings.

Testosterone is an aggressor and at higher doses, even in men, it can make one short-tempered and aggressive – even violent. In fact, within the bodybuilding world, that process is called “roid rage.”

Sexual Changes – Anabolic steroids will not make a woman grow a penis, but they can cause the clitoris to become enlarged. They can also cause vast changes in sexual desire and those changes can range from no interest to “can’t get enough.”

There are other side effects that anabolic steroid use can cause, and it is important to understand what you are taking and what it can do.

Why Women Take Male Sex Hormones

For non-medical reasons, women take male sex hormones to increase muscle volume and to drop stubborn fat. In between those two goals is a plethora of reasons women and men take anabolic steroids.

Whatever those reasons might be, it is the process that is important. The process is the priming of the body to build muscle or burn fat and for women, it skirts along the edge of virilization. Go too far and the process becomes noticeable. It is a fine line and that line wavers between one woman and the next.

Which Anabolic Steroids Do Not Cause Virilization

All them have the potential to cause virilization but it can also be said that all of them at lower doses and short duration are likely not to cause virilization.

The problem is that results take time. For that reason, there is a list of anabolic steroids that are “kinder” to women.

There are two steroids that are popular among women athletes and bodybuilders, those are Anavar and Winstrol.

There is a lot of information on both steroids and some of that info is misleading.

Anavar is often termed “not to cause virilization” can, in fact, cause male characteristics to develop in women, but usually only when the dosage is high, or the drug is used for too long.

Men use Anavar as a cutting steroid, but for women, at lower doses, like with Winstrol, it can prime their bodies to increase muscle or burn fat.

As mentioned earlier, steroids affect us all differently and what may work well for your best friend may not work well for you or may cause other side effects such as nausea and vomiting in you. In short, all anabolic steroids can cause virilization though Winstrol and Anavar may be the least likely to do so in low doses.

Conclusion

While Anavar and Winstrol are often considered female-friendly steroids. there is no such thing. The closest thing you can take to anabolic steroids without side effects is legal steroids. These can offer similar benefits for losing body fat and increasing muscle and strength without harmful side effects.
